Toilet playing up? A constantly-running cistern, a weak flush or a leak round the base won't fix itself — and a running toilet quietly wastes water, which costs you real money if you're on a meter. We repair and replace toilets across Hull & East Yorkshire, by appointment, with a price agreed before we start.
Aqua Venta is a water-side plumbing service covering Hull, Brough, Hessle, Beverley, Anlaby, Willerby, North Ferriby, Swanland, Elloughton, South Cave and Barton. We're plain-English and phone-first — you tell us what the toilet's doing, we book you in and turn up when we say we will.
What we fix
Most toilet faults come down to a handful of worn parts or a poor seal. We sort the lot:
- Running or constantly-filling toilets — water trickling into the pan long after the flush
- Weak or partial flush that won't clear the pan
- A toilet that won't flush at all
- Leaks from the base, or from between the cistern and the pan
- Faulty fill valves and flush valves
- Overflow problems — water running into the pan or out of an external overflow pipe
- Re-seating a wobbly or leaking pan
- Full toilet replacements — close-coupled, back-to-wall or low-level
Common problems people call us about
The number-one call is a running toilet. Usually it's a worn fill valve or flush valve washer letting water past — a cheap part, but left alone it can waste hundreds of litres a day. If you're metered, that's money straight down the pan.
Next is the weak or no flush — often a knackered flush valve, a snapped handle linkage or a part-blocked rim. If the bowl itself is draining slowly, the problem may be further down the line, which crosses over into blocked drains rather than the toilet itself. We'll tell you which it is before we charge you for the wrong fix.
Then there's the leaking toilet — water pooling round the base or seeping where the cistern bolts onto the pan. Sometimes it's a perished doughnut washer or loose bolts; sometimes the pan needs lifting and re-seating onto a fresh seal. Spot water on the floor and you're not sure where it's coming from? Turn the water off at the stopcock and phone us before it gets into the floorboards.
If it's leaking now
For an active leak, don't wait. Turn the water off — at the toilet's own isolation valve if it has one, or at the main stopcock (often under the kitchen sink) — then phone us to book the repair in. We work by appointment, not as a 24/7 emergency call-out, so getting the water off yourself is what stops the damage while we get you booked.
If water's already got into the floor or a downstairs ceiling, we also hire out drying gear — wet vacuums, air movers and dehumidifiers — same-day, so you can dry things out properly. Have a look at drying after a leak.
Repair or replace?
If the parts are worn but the pan and cistern are sound, a repair is almost always the cheaper, quicker route. We carry common fill and flush valves so a lot of jobs are sorted in one visit. When a pan's cracked, the cistern's crazed, or you just fancy a newer unit, a full swap makes more sense — and we'll give you a straight price for supply and fit, or fit a toilet you've already bought.
While we're there, if a tap's dripping or an isolation valve has seized, it's often worth sorting it in the same visit — see our tap repairs.
Water work only — not gas
To be straight with you: we do water plumbing, not gas. We're not Gas Safe registered, so anything to do with a boiler, a gas appliance or central-heating gas work needs a Gas Safe engineer — and we'll happily point you towards one. For everything water-side, from toilets to taps to leaks, you're in the right place. See our plumbing services.
