Tap Repair & Replacement

Dripping or seized taps fixed across Hull & East Yorkshire

Got a tap that drips through the night or won't turn off properly? It's usually a cheap, quick fix — and the sooner it's booked in, the less water you waste. We repair and replace taps right across Hull & East Yorkshire, by appointment, and we'll give you a price before any work starts.

A dripping tap is more than an annoyance. On a water meter, a steady drip wastes water and money month after month — and a leak from the base can quietly rot a worktop or cupboard before you notice. Most of the time the cause is a worn washer or a tired ceramic cartridge, and putting it right doesn't cost much.

What we fix and fit

If it involves a tap and water, we'll sort it. Common jobs include:

  • Dripping or constantly running taps — usually a worn washer or ceramic cartridge
  • Stiff, stiff-to-turn or fully seized taps that won't budge
  • Leaks from the spout, the base, or the threaded connections underneath
  • Supplying and fitting new taps — kitchen, basin, bath and mixer taps
  • Swapping a worn-out tap for a like-for-like replacement
  • Fitting isolation valves so the next repair is quicker and cleaner

If you're updating a whole room rather than a single tap, take a look at our bathroom & kitchen plumbing work too — taps, sinks and waste pipes often get tackled together.

The problems people usually call about

Nine times out of ten it's one of these:

  • A drip that won't stop — the washer or cartridge has worn and needs replacing.
  • A mixer tap leaking at the base — often a perished seal or a loose fitting underneath.
  • A seized tap — limescale and age lock it up; sometimes it frees off, sometimes it's better replaced.
  • A new tap fitted — you've bought one, or want us to supply one, and need it plumbed in properly.

Whatever it is, we'll tell you straight whether it's worth a repair or whether a new tap is the more sensible spend.

How booking works

We work by appointment — we're not a 24/7 call-out service, and that keeps our prices fair. If a tap is actively leaking and you can't stop it, turn the water off at the stopcock first — it's usually under the kitchen sink — then phone us and we'll book the repair in.

  1. Phone the office and tell us what the tap's doing.
  2. We book a time that suits you.
  3. We turn up, fix or fit, and give you the price up front.

If a leak has already soaked a floor or cupboard, we also hire out drying gear same-day — see drying after a leak to get things dried out before any damage sets in.

Water work only — not gas

To be clear, we handle water plumbing only. We're not Gas Safe registered, so we don't touch boilers, gas appliances or anything gas-related. If your problem turns out to be a boiler or gas fault, we'll say so honestly and point you towards a Gas Safe engineer who can help. For everything on the water side — taps, toilet repairs, leaks and pipework — you're in the right place.

Booked in and sorted

A worn tap rarely gets better on its own, and a slow drip only wastes more water the longer it's left. Get it booked in, get a clear price, and get it done. Phone Hull on 01482 680247 or Scunthorpe on 01724 501258 — or browse our plumbing services to see everything else we cover.

Common questions

Things people often ask

Still not sure? Phone us — we’re happy to talk it through.

How much does it cost to fix a dripping tap?

A dripping tap is usually a cheap fix — most often a worn washer or ceramic cartridge. Our call-out and first half hour starts from £60, and many tap repairs are sorted within that. We'll always give you the price before we start.

Can you supply the new tap, or do I buy my own?

Either works. You can buy your own tap and we'll fit it, or we can supply one to suit your sink or basin. Tell us what you're after when you phone and we'll sort the right option for you.

My tap is dripping — is it urgent?

It's not an emergency, but it's worth booking in sooner rather than later. On a water meter a steady drip wastes water and money, and a leak from the base can damage your worktop or cupboard over time.

Do you do 24/7 emergency call-outs?

No — we work by appointment, which keeps our prices fair. If a tap is leaking badly, turn the water off at the stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink) and then phone us to book the repair in.

Can you fix a boiler or gas problem too?

No — we're a water plumbing service and not Gas Safe registered, so we don't touch boilers or gas appliances. If it turns out to be a gas or boiler fault, we'll tell you and point you to a Gas Safe engineer.

Which areas do you cover?

Hull and across East Yorkshire — including Brough, Hessle, Beverley, Anlaby, Willerby, North Ferriby, Swanland, Elloughton, South Cave and Barton.
