Pipes that run cold, an old stopcock that won't turn, a noisy storage tank in the loft, or a length of bare copper you're worried about come winter — that's our bread and butter. Aqua Venta handles pipework, cold-water tanks and frost protection across Hull & East Yorkshire, by appointment, with an honest price up front.
What we do
This is all water-side plumbing — no gas, no boilers. We're a water plumbing service, plain and simple, so if a job needs a Gas Safe engineer we'll tell you straight rather than take it on. For everything else around your pipework and tanks, we've got it covered:
- Pipe alterations and re-routing — copper and push-fit/plastic — to free up space, move a sink, or tidy up a botched run
- Replacing stopcocks and isolation valves so you can actually shut the water off when you need to
- Cold-water storage tanks and ball valves — repairs, replacements and overflow problems sorted
- Pipe lagging, insulation and frost protection for lofts, garages, outbuildings and exposed runs
- Thawing or repairing frozen and burst pipes once you've got the water off
A lot of this ties in with our wider work on leaks & burst pipes and radiators & valves, so if there's more than one job on your list we can usually pick it all up in the one visit.
Common jobs we get called out for
Most pipework jobs fall into a handful of types. A seized stopcock is a big one — the valve under the kitchen sink that nobody's touched in fifteen years, until the day they need it. We fit a new one, often with a fresh isolation valve nearby so future repairs are quick and dry. Then there's tank trouble: a ball valve that's stuck open and dribbling into the overflow, a tank that's filling too slowly, or one that needs swapping out entirely. And there's the steady stream of alterations — moving pipework to fit a new kitchen, re-routing an awkward run, or capping off something that's no longer used.
Frost and winter advice
Most burst pipes in this part of Yorkshire happen because water freezes in an unheated, unlagged run and the ice splits the pipe. A bit of foam lagging is cheap insurance. Worth doing before the cold sets in:
- Lag any exposed pipes — lofts, garages, outbuildings and external taps are the usual culprits
- Find your stopcock now and make sure it turns, so you're not hunting for it in a panic
- Keep a little background heat on in a hard frost, especially if you're away
- Drain down outside taps and any pipework you won't be using over winter
If a pipe does freeze, turn the water off at the stopcock first, then phone us to book in — we can thaw it carefully and check the run for splits before you turn the supply back on. If a frozen or burst pipe has already let water out and soaked floors or ceilings, we also hire out drying gear same-day — see drying after a leak to get the place dried out properly and stop the damage spreading.
How booking works
We work by appointment, not as a 24/7 call-out service — so the honest advice for any frozen or burst pipe is the same: turn the water off at the stopcock (usually under the kitchen sink), then phone us and we'll book the repair in and give you a price. No call centre, no pushy upsell — you talk to the person doing the work. Ring Hull on 01482 680247 or Scunthorpe on 01724 501258.
We cover Hull, Brough, Hessle, Beverley, Anlaby, Willerby, North Ferriby, Swanland, Elloughton, South Cave and Barton. If you're just outside that, give us a ring and ask.
