What we do in Barton-upon-Humber

Barton housing is a proper mix. Georgian properties along the historic streets have thick brick walls, hidden supply runs and older lead-and-brass fittings tucked behind modern kitchen fits. The Victorian brick terraces built around the tile-works have short awkward runs and quite a few original butler-sink layouts that have been modernised badly over the years. Waterside cottages nearer the Humber sit low, and slow leaks under suspended floors are common there because damp masks the smell for months. Newer estates use plastic push-fit and manifolds. The chalk-aquifer water here is very hard, so cartridges, fill valves and shower cartridges wear faster than the labels suggest — a Barton dripping tap usually needs a full ceramic cartridge, not just a washer.
